The Shape of Stillness, 2026

The Shape of Stillness explores the themes of Inherited Memory: On Ontology of Violence in a contemplative space where sculptural objects and former stage elements take on a new kind of presence. My work examines the notion of the body and home, which continues here through the arrangement of houses, ladders, and suspended forms. In both theatrical and on-site performances, some of these objects entered lived time through the weight and restraint of a moving body. In the gallery, their placement invites slower attention to what remains within them. I am interested in how memory inhabits a space after an action has ended and how ordinary materials can hold what cannot be fully spoken. Red ladders rising from a circular ground of sand, suspended between the effort of ascent and the possibility of arriving nowhere. Open house frames stand beside forms wrapped in red fabric, bringing the house close to the body through the suggestion of bone, flesh, and breath. Elsewhere, thread and salt gather with hanging forms inside a wooden structure, creating a place for remembrance when words are insufficient. Within this stillness, shelter becomes a question of scale and proximity, of what an object holds and what it withholds from the body.
