Reliquaries for Remembrance, 2026
Reliquaries for Remembrance, the final chapter of Silent Bone (an anthology of visual and performative works), brings together objects and selected passages from on-site performances that moved through culturally and historically significant places in Kathmandu Valley. The exhibition venue, Taragaon Next, with its connection to architecture and heritage preservation, gives these remnants a setting where their displacement remains noticeable. A red house frame contains weathered wood, resembling a body. A fragile house holds two quiet forms on a bed of salt close to the ground. An overturned red boat stands on a mannequin’s legs, unable to float yet still retaining the impression of movement. These forms are vessels that temporarily contain what has been carried into a different state. The excerpts from the on-site performance at Patan Museum, Chobhar, and Ason link the works to courtyards and crossing places where history remains part of everyday public life. The videos maintain a visual connection between the moving body and each location. Remembrance in this case remains incomplete. A house can contain things that cannot be healed, and a boat can be placed where there is no water; the venue makes space for such situations without insisting they reach a conclusion.
